ALBUQUERQUE

Allbuquerque, New Mexico has about the same climate as Chicago in the summer months but has a higher elevation. The Turquoise Trail to Santa Fe is a very beautiful drive. Our first stop was Sandia Crest. The elevation is 10, 678 which is several thousand feet higher than Albuquerque. A windy scenic ride to the top is highly recommended. One very interesting stop is the Chimayo weavers where Indian weaving is beautiful, colorful and available. Another interesting spot near Albuquerque is the Petroglyph National Monument. Over 15,000 ancient Native American rock drawings can be seen at the sight of five extinct volcanoes.
