Spring Green & Horicon WI

Spring Green is about 50 miles NW of Madison WI. It was the summer home of Frank Lloyd Wright. House on the Rock is a museum of collectable items. American Players Theater is an outdoor theater built into the side of a hill. Every seat is a soft theater seat with great vewing. We've stayed at The Springs is a golf suites resort, plush and expensive. It is a very nice place for staying while seeing the theater across the road. We also have stayed at the Spring Valley Inn. It has a good restuarant, large swimming pool and was very comfortable. The Round Barn is a good alternative motel.

The Horicon Marsh is where hundreds of thousands of Canada geese and other waterfowl stop to rest and feed during the annual migrations. The northern two-thirds of the 31,000-acre marsh is the federal refuge, the other thirdis run by the State. Canoes can be rented there or there is guided boat tour of the marsh. Bird watchers and nature lovers find relaxation and many things to see in the marsh.
