New Glarius is about 3 hours from Chicago. There are great restaurants and a famous bakery in town. The town has many stores which have local Swiss items. There also is a restored village nearby. Sugar River State Trail, is a famous bike trail begins here and runs for 23 miles.
Dodgeville is about 30 minutes south of Spring Green. In Dodgeville is the new Lands End factory complex. There is also a very good small cheese factory on the highway. Don Q is a motel that offers regular and fantasy rooms. There is also a very nice state park, Gov. Dodge, where you can hike or rent a boat.
