Oak Creek Canyon is about 2.5 hours north of Phoenix and about 15 minutes north of Sedona. Sedona is about 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix, Oak Creek Canyon is about 15 degrees cooler than Sedona! Cool winds from the mountains and Flagstaff make Oak Creek Canyon very unique. The canyon is beautiful. A few minutes from the desert, this canyon is tree lined with a good flowing creek full of trout. Junipine resort has houses along the creek. The weather is so perfect that they don't have or need air conditoning. (They do get more snow than Sedona). In Sedona we took a jeep "off road" and hiked in the desert, at night we cooled off in Oak Creek Canyon.
