An Open to the Public workshop "How you can create stereo photography".Workshop by Eugene and Elizabeth Mitofsky All you need is a single digital camera, a computer (free software) and a pair of red/blue glasses. We'll give you the glasses and a link to the free software. You can create "poping out" stereo photography in minutes!
You can view the stereo on your computer screen, put it in powerpoint presentations or print them out on paper.
The workshop will be presented by several club membes, all of which have had International Acceptances in Juried competitions.
IT IS EASY! IT IS QUICK! AND IT IS IMPRESSIVE!
YOU CAN CREATE A STEREO PHOTOGRAPH IN MINUTES!
STEREO PHOTOGRAPHY When you look at an object nearby, each eye sends a picture to your brain that is received from a slightly different viewpoint. The brain instantly recognizes the dissimilarities between this pair of images, and constructs the perception of space: distance & volume.
Stereo photography mimics this optical system, and can faithfully reproduce the view and perception of space. The scene is photographed from two viewpoints. When the resultant pair of pictures is presented to each eye individually, the brain is able to "fuse" the two images into a three dimensional view. This brain function is called "stereopsis." About 10% of the population is at least partially "stereo-blind".
CHA CHA METHOD WITH A SINGLE CAMERA Non-stereo cameras can take stereo pictures! Stereo pairs can be taken by the simple method of shoot, shift, and shoot. Just shift the camera about 2 ½ inches by shifting your weight from your left foot to your right, between exposures. The camera must be held level and the shift should be done horizontally with essentially no up or down movement. It is best not to have any movement in the scene between exposures. Even a slight movement of the leaves on a tree will stand out in stereo. A slide bar leveled on a tripod would give better results than hand holding the camera.
Equipment needed: A digital camera, a computer with some free software, red/blue glassesLinks
